People who are into puzzle games are sure to have noticed that many of the offerings these days follow the same theme. As you would expect, the game play in Marble Blast Gold is very similar to that of the other puzzle games of this type. Players are presented with a screen full of coloured objects, in this case marbles. A shooting mechanism at the bottom of the screen fires additional coloured marbles. The aim is to fire the marbles in the perfect place to gain collections of three marbles or more of the same colour so that they will be eliminated.

As always, the concept of the game is pretty simple and there is not really too much variation between levels except for the fact that upper levels are a bit more difficult. However, Marble Blast Gold includes a large selection of special power ups as well as hazards that add a bit of variation to the game and help to keep players on their toes. The graphics are bright and colourful as well as being smooth and detailed. The sound effects and background music match the style of the game well and provide an extra texture to the game that helps to make it even more addictive.

The controls are very easy to use, which makes it easy for players to get into the game. This also adds to the addictive nature of Marble Blast Gold and with a hundred different levels to complete there is plenty here to keep gamers occupied for many hours. The difficulty of the levels is gradually increased as players progress until it is rather challenging indeed. However, novice gamers will find the initial levels simple enough to get into right away and should be able to complete them without too much trouble.

I am on a Mac too! They rock!
I got stuck on this level too - one little way to help yourself is to goto the main menu and wait about 5 seconds. This will play a loop of about 3 computer run demos. One of which shows the best route to take when doing this level.

Keith enter $testCheats = 1; (with the ;) in the console, voila :) That demo at the intro (as played by Mark Frohnmayer) doesn't show the *easiest* route through the level, but it does show the fastest. At any rate, it lets you see where all the gems are. To 'qualify' for locked levels, go to that level in the select dialog and click the very bottom-right hand corner of the background image. That should unlock the level (I'm not sure if it works on the Mac version, but it does on Windows). Are there cheats for a mac computer. im on the three fold maze level and i cant beat it.

thanks Blaire, please read the post you just added on to. There are no real cheats in MBG. If you're in a level that says 'not qualified', click in the bottom right corner of the window to unlock it. If you need help on Three Fold maze, ask around. Has anyone beated the three fold maze level and if so could you tell me how!

I'm not going to give you any 'spoilers', so I will just suggest roaming around until you find all 3 gems. It will eventually work! Don't look at me. I helped Bobby. I copied the Marble Blast Gold folder from the default location /Applications/Marble Blast Gold/ onto my user /Users/Joe/Games/Marble Blast Gold/ and the levels were suddenly unlocked. I have no idea why this happened, try it tell me if the same thing happens to you.
I also worked out how to make minor modifications to existing levels and how to 'hack' the in-game high scores. If any Mac users would liek to now how email me or add to a messenger of your choice:

1) Prefs.cs got your levels unlocked because you added a custom level or you changed some of your preferences. Read the Level Building forum to see how to lock it (MBG FAQ topic and search for my last walkthrough about level qualifications).
2) We know how to make modifications to levels by using the level editor or the .mis code. Again, look at level building forums to see how we made our own levels.
3) 'Hack'. Hah. That's a simple prefs.cs file change where you just change your times. Of course, to get into the WR topic you need to have, if requested: Path, Screenshot of level end with the scoreboard and all that (not main menu) and video. Yes well. You no that and I no that but certain friends and family dont.....

if you are good with computers you can change the =5 to =1 or =0 or anything else.
